The Acworth Board of Aldermen approved three projects recently, totaling $421,958, and a grant.

The aldermen accepted a $1.5 million Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank Grant from the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority to pay for part of the Lemon Street realignment project.

In other matters, the three projects are:

  • $175,958 for a 32-yard compactor sanitation truck from McNeilus Company of Villa Rica. This 2018 truck will replace the city's oldest sanitation truck from 1999 which has well exceeded its service life expectancy.
  • $162,000 annual agreement for three years for solid waste disposal with Republic Services, Inc. of Phoenix, Arizona, at the Marble Mill Road Facility in Kennesaw.
  • $84,000 but no more than $100,000 for the second of two one-year contracts with Georgia Green Landscaping for mowing maintenance services for right of ways, cemeteries, parks and city property.
