A 24-year-old man accused of murdering a 52-year-old church deacon near downtown Decatur has arrived at the DeKalb County jail.
Jacob Pyne, a convicted cocaine dealer, allegedly gunned down Gerald Foster, a father of seven, near Foster's apartment on July 6, according to an indictment. Pyne was booked Thursday.
Police have said Foster, the first victim of homicide in the city of Decatur since 2014, was found in a stairwell on the 200 block of Robin Street.
Authorities haven't released a motive.

Pyne and Christonya Section, who has been in custody, were indicted on murder charges on Oct. 6. Pyne was arrested in Tennessee — where he was convicted in the cocaine case last year — in July and is set to be transferred to a prison there when his DeKalb case is resolved, according to jail records.
But if convicted of murder, he'll face life in a Georgia prison.
