Two DeKalb County races will be settled after July 24 runoff election. Democratic voters will decide whether the District 7 county commission seat will continue to be held by incumbent Gregory Adams or if challenger Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will get the job.
And there is a countywide election to chose between Tunde Akinyele and Latisha Dear-Jackson for a Superior Court judgeship.
The county is operating just one site for advance voting: the DeKalb County Voter Registration & Elections Office at 4380 Memorial Drive in Decatur. Early voting began Monday, and the Dekalb County Registration & Elections reported that 83 people cast ballots.
Advance voting continues on weekdays through July 20 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. There will also be one Saturday of early voting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 14.
The advance voting site will be closed on July 4 for Independence Day.
The county has received just shy of 800 absentee ballots ahead of the election. On Election Day polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
