The Georgia Supreme Court heard arguments Monday on a long-standing tug-of-war between Clayton County and College Park over the distribution of revenues from alcohol taxes collected at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Clayton is appealing an October 2015 Superior Court ruling in favor of College Park, which claims Clayton owes it about $2.5 million from alcohol taxes during the past 30 years. College Park alleges that since 1983 the alcohol tax collected from wholesale and retail vendors at the airport has not been properly collected and distributed, according the 31-page brief obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution..

Efforts to reach attorneys for the county and College Park were unsuccessful Monday afternoon.

A new court term began Monday at the Supreme Court of Georgia. The Clayton case was one of four heard by the new nine-member court, which includes three new justices and a new Chief Justice. The court has six months to decide the case, Supreme Court spokeswoman Jane O. Hansen said Monday.
