Stockbridge residents will have to wait a little longer before they get a new mayor.

Tuesday’s special mayoral election appeared to be headed toward a runoff between candidates Regina Lewis-Ward and Judy B. Neal. Lewis-Ward, retired from the New York Transit, is a former Stockbridge city councilwoman. A political newcomer, Neal is the former Henry Council on Quality Growth executive director and a former employee in the offices of the Secretary of State and Lt. Governor.

The mayor's seat has been vacated since last December when Tim Thompson abruptly resigned. The other candidates were Partha Chakraborty, an entrepreneur and community volunteer and former mayor pro tem Alphonso Thomas.
