Henry County Commissioner Blake Prince speaks at a Wednesday ceremony dedicating McDonough's Fire Station No. 16 to former leader Reid Bowman.

Henry County dedicated a fire station in McDonough's Kelleytown community for a former county commissioner who died earlier this year.

A bronze marker was placed on a wall at Fire Station No. 16 on Wednesday for Reid Bowman, who was District 4 Commissioner from 2007 to 2014. Bowman, who died in June, was instrumental in the construction of the fire station among other public safety and quality-of-life projects, the county said.

“I looked at several different things to name after Reid passed, so I looked at the fire station, and the fire station is here to help people and I really feel that fits Reid’s personality and who Reid was,” said Blake Prince, the current District 4 commissioner.
