Five Forks Trickum Road near Lilburn will get a major upgrade from Oak Road to Tom Smith Road under a contract awarded by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.
The county will widen and install a center turn lane on Five Forks under an $11.6 million contract awarded to low bidder CMES. The company also will upgrade the intersections of Five Forks at Oak Road and Killian Hill Road, add sidewalks on both sides of the road and pedestrian markings at each intersection.
The project also includes new traffic signal communication lines and equipment from Ronald Reagan Parkway to Killian Hill. The new lines will allow for better timing and adjustment of the lights.
The money for the project will come from a voter-approved 2014 special sales tax for construction projects.
