A decade after Grady Memorial Hospital was on the brink of financial collapse, Fulton County commissioners gave it a vote of support Wednesday by agreeing to pay up to $60 million for the hospital system’s expansion.

The county contribution is the first confirmed commitment for the $165 million expansion project.

Grady is also seeking money from DeKalb County and from private funders.
