DeKalb County’s toilet rebate program is being honored for its water conversation efforts.

The Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District, which was created by the Georgia General Assembly in 2001 to coordinate regional planning of water issues, recently gave a certificate of recognition to the DeKalb Department of Watershed Management.

The toilet rebate program offers rebates of $50 or $100 for the purchase of water efficient toilets that replace toilets installed before 1993.

DeKalb’s Department of Watershed Management has rebated more than 26,000 toilets — the most in metro Atlanta — since the program started in 2008, according to the county.
