What experience will help you in office? As our next city council president I will draw on a combination of my time as a neighborhood association president, an NPU representative, and my 19 years on Council ferociously defending and protecting northwest Atlanta families. I'm ready to get to work to protect and serve ALL Atlanta families. I'm proud to be endorsed by the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, PACE, and many others.
What issue got you into this race? My proven record as a reformer and a common-sense independent voice dedicated to making our neighborhoods safer, to fight against gentrification, and to fight for more affordable housing and expanding public transit. I didn't see those things being done outside of my district, so I wanted to tackle them all head-on for all of Atlanta.
Which current television character do you identify most with? Growing up I identified with Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, from "Star Trek," played by Michelle Nichols who represented the first mainstream African-American lead on a prime time American television series.

What experience will help you in office? My education (Georgia Tech/Wharton/Harvard) and professional experience in the private (former small business owner), public (City Council), nonprofit (Jerusalem House), and higher education (Emory University) sectors uniquely enable me to bring a practical, metrics-driven perspective to city government. My collaborative, consensus-building temperament I have utilized on City Council (versus being divisive and combative, or letting politics-as-usual lead the day) is precisely what we need to change the tenor of how we conduct the city's business.
What issue got you into this race? The issue that most compelled me to run is Atlanta's growing economic and quality of life disparities, highlighted in a recent Brookings Institute study naming Atlanta as the worst major city regarding economic mobility and income inequality. Consequent social justice challenges manifest in numerous ways, including economic opportunity, housing affordability, employment, education, public safety, community development, access to food, and other factors. Allowing this to worsen could create dangerous social instability in our city.
Which current television character do you identify most with? Sheldon Cooper in "The Big Bang Theory." He's a big nerd with a love for science and science fiction. And while he at times may be socially awkward, he has a big heart and cares deeply about his friends and family. I care deeply about Atlanta.
