The Gwinnett School of Math, Science and Technology, which often ranks among the best high schools in the nation, can add another academic accolade to its list.

Students there fared better last school year on the SAT than any public high school in Georgia.

The mean total score for the school was 1848, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution review of data released Thursday by the College Board, which administers the SAT. North Gwinnett High had the second-best score in the Gwinnett school district, 1654. Brookwood High was third-highest in Gwinnett, at 1579.

Gwinnett's mean total score in 2014-15 was about 1500, nearly the same as the prior school year. Statewide, the mean total score for Georgia students who took the exam during the 2014-15 school year was 1450, five points better than the total score for the 2013-14 school year, according to the data.
