How you can help South Carolina recover

Historical flooding devastated South Carolina over the weekend, stemming from Hurricane Joaquin. The state saw widespread flooding that resulted in 12 dead, 1,000 people in shelters and 40,000 without water. About 26,000 had no power following the storms.

The economic impact to the state is being estimated at more than $1 billion. The recovery is only beginning, and South Carolina's Emergency Management Division is asking for help. For those who wish to contribute, the group has a list of organizations that are verified and other ways to help.
