A homeless man was struck and killed by a truck near the interchange between Interstate 20 and Interstate 75/85 overnight.

Police indicated that the driver, Joshua Reese, 25, was likely intoxicated and speeding when his truck swerved off of the I-20 East ramp to I-75/85 North. He ran over the man, who was lying in a tent at the time, before crashing into a bridge.

Reese was not injured in the incident. He has been charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving and driving under the influence. Police had not yet identified the victim as of late Saturday morning.

All lanes were closed briefly following the crash, which occurred around 4 a.m. Saturday.

The incident was first reported by Channel 2 Action News.
