A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in southeast Atlanta Monday night, and the victim’s girlfriend was arrested, police said.

The incident happened about 9:30 p.m. on Mount Zion Road, between Browns Mill Road and Macon Drive.

The victim, identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office as Deandre Smith of Atlanta, suffered a stab wound to the chest and died at the scene, Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said.

Jones said the preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s live-in girlfriend stabbed him during an argument.

The suspect, 21-year-old Destiny Wilson, was arrested a short distance from the crime scene, Jones said in an email.

Wilson was booked into the Fulton County Jail early Tuesday, charged with murder.
