Eight families were displaced following a fire at their apartment complex in Clayton County, the Red Cross said.

The early Sunday morning fire at the Laurel Park Apartments on Ga. 85 in Riverdale left 14 people without housing, according to the relief organization.

The blaze broke out in the upstairs level of building B1 and affected two units, according to Clayton County Fire Battalion Chief Laura Richardson. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Richardson said.

Along with emotional support, a team of disaster volunteers provided assistance “for immediate emergency needs such as lodging, food and clothing,” the Red Cross said in a statement. “Red Cross caseworkers will continue to work with the families in the days ahead to help them get back on their feet.”
