Woman mugged in Virginia-Highland armed robbery

Atlanta police are investigating an armed robbery attack on a woman in the Virginia-Highland area early Sunday.

When police arrived, they learned the victim had been punched and robbed by two men while entering her car around 2:30 a.m., according to a police report.

The attack occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Frederica Street and St. Charles Avenue.

“The same male that pointed the weapon at the victim is said to have punched the victim,” the police report said. The suspects stole the victim’s purse which contained credit cards and her iPhone.

Another woman in the area heard the victim’s screams and called 911, according to Fox 5 news.

“I could tell immediately it was not like a Halloween gag prank type of scream,” Elizabeth Kroll, who reported the woman screaming for help, told Fox 5. “[It was] like someone was actually in pretty serious trouble.”
