Authorities in Bibb County are investigating after a call related to public indecency led to the discovery of a woman’s body.

The investigation unfolded Sunday morning at the Daybreak Day Resource Center on Walnut Street in Macon, the Bibb sheriff's office said in a news release. The Daybreak Center provides aid to people experiencing homelessness, according to the organization's website.

A 911 caller complained of “two people having intercourse on the front steps” of the shelter, according to the Bibb sheriff’s office. Deputies who arrived at the scene found the report to be accurate.

Investigators identified 55-year-old Kenny Obyran Whitehead as the man involved in the act. They asked Whitehead to get dressed, but found that the woman was unresponsive.

“Emergency services determined that the female had been deceased for some time,” the sheriff’s office said.

The cause of the woman’s death is still under investigation. It does not appear that foul play was a factor, the sheriff’s office said.

Whitehead was charged with necrophilia and booked into the Bibb jail with no bond.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Bibb sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500.
