Three overdoses, two of them fatal, have Newnan police scrambling to find out what happened in the 24 hours before the investigation and if the restaurant connected to them played a role.

Newnan police first responded to a person down call at the Brickhouse Tavern about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Officers arrived to find Brandon Jordan Taylor, 29, in the restaurant sick from an overdose, according to a police report. First responders gave him Narcan and took him to Newnan-Piedmont Hospital.

Just 10 hours later, police responded to another overdose, but this victim wasn’t as lucky.

About 10 a.m., Newnan police arrived to find Danny Orlando Freeman, 23, dead from an overdose in a home along Boone Drive.

Just like Taylor, Freeman had eaten at Brickhouse Tavern, Channel 2 Action News reported, but it is not known if the men knew each other.

“We have to wait until we get all the (toxicology reports) and all the information back to determine what may have caused the death of these individuals,” Coweta County Sheriff Mike Yeager told the news station.

A third victim also died from an overdose, the station reported. It is not known if she ate at the same restaurant.

But a mystery remains in whether the restaurant played a role in the overdoses.

“In the meantime we're interviewing family members, friends,” Yeager said, “anyone that's been around them at some point in time, that maybe can give us a history of what their lifestyles were.”
