Three teenagers were injured in a tubing accident on Lake Lanier.

A 17-year-old suffered facial fractures, facial lacerations, knee lacerations and multiple other abrasions during a tubing accident on Lake Lanier on Saturday, authorities said.

The 17-year-old, who told AJC.com she wished to remain anonymous, along with Mya Wilkes, 18, and Ian Hardy, 18, were being towed behind a pontoon boat when a wide turn ejected the teenagers onto the rocky shoreline, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said in an incident report obtained by AJC.com.

The incident happened near Lanier Islands Parkway adjacent to Blueridge Campground, the report said. Wilkes and Hardy also suffered multiple abrasions.

All three were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville and were released later that night, the report said.

Brian Tran Sr. operated the boat, which was going at a high rate of speed, the report said.

Georgia DNR spokesman Mark McKinnon told AJC.com that charges are pending against Tran Sr., but none have been filed yet.
