Police arrested a 47-year-old woman Monday night after a teenager was shot in the head near her home.

Elisabeth Faye Cannon was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on a charge of aggravated assault shortly before midnight, the Macon Telegraph reported.

Vernon Marcus Jr., 15, was found critically wounded on the sidewalk near Cannon’s home, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Marcus was walking with friends past Cannon’s house about 8 p.m. when they heard gunshots and the others noticed Cannon was wounded, the newspaper reported.

Cannon was interviewed and charged late Monday.
