A teen accused in the deadly shooting of a Gwinnett man revisited the crime scene to retrieve a shoe left behind, a Duluth police detective testified in court.
The 16-year-old, who has not been named, faces murder charges in the fatal shooting of Akeem Turner, 21, at Plantation Trace on Oct. 14, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
Turner was in his car with a second suspect, Alex Powell, 17, when police say Powell pulled Turner’s keys out of the ignition and exited the car. At the same time, the 16-year-old pulled a gun on Turner and tried to rob him of cash and marijuana, police said.
Duluth police believe the 16-year-old and another person returned to the scene to get evidence, Channel 2 Action News reported, but police already had the evidence — a shoe — in their possession. The teen also faces armed robbery charges.
Powell avoided a murder charge after he accepted a plea deal in the case and led police to the 16-year-old. He only faces assault with intent to commit a crime.
