Police think two people who are suspected of stealing $700,000 in jewelry from a Conyers store may be connected to other robberies in metro Atlanta, Channel 2 Action News learned.

Cephos Leyon “Jamal” White, 29, of Sandy Springs, and Sandrika Denise Sears, also known as Nubian Monae, 31, of Decatur, were taken into custody Wednesday by the FBI.

They are facing charges of violation of the Hobbs Act and use of a firearm during a crime in connection with the April 18 robbery of Kay Jewelers at 1620 Dogwood Avenue, the FBI said.

They were denied bond Friday by a federal judge on grounds they could harm someone if they were let out of jail, Channel 2 reported.

They allegedly zip-tied two people and held them at gunpoint during the robbery, Channel 2 reported. Prosecutors said a similar method was used in robberies in Marietta and Snellville.

Also, prosecutors said a car that was seen by tag readers in the area on four occasions leading up to the robbery and then on the day of the robbery was traced back to the home that White and Sears shared.

The pair introduced themselves to their Conyers victims using the names “Jamal” and “Monae,” nicknames the suspects use, Channel 2 reported.
