Students allege substitute teacher had porn on computer during class

A substitute teacher won’t be rehired after students allege the teacher’s personal computer sounded like it was playing a pornographic movie.

A substitute teacher won’t be asked back to Dalton Middle School after students reported hearing sounds of a pornographic video coming from his computer, Dalton Public Schools officials told the Dalton Daily Citizen.

Dalton is about 90 miles north of Atlanta.

Principal Phil Jones told the newspaper the incident happened in class Thursday. He said he found out about the incident from an assistant principal who’d heard about the allegations from students.

"I went back to the office and met with the three students whose names she'd given me,” Jones told the newspaper. “By the time I'd finished, I interviewed 13 students."

None of the students reported seeing the teacher watching the video or seeing any explicit images — only hearing sounds.

"He was not at his computer while it was making those sounds,” Jones told the newspaper. “He was in front of the class, and he went back to the computer and turned it off.”

Jones said he immediately called human resources and canceled all of the sub’s future jobs.

Dalton Public Schools spokeswoman Pat Holloway told the newspaper the incident was not reported to police because no one actually saw the man watching any pornographic videos and because it was his personal computer.

Holloway said the man had worked for the school system since 2015 and there were no prior complaints.
