3 sought in double carjacking of IRS agent at his home

Three teens, police say all armed, robbed IRS agent Joe Ziegler as he left for work.

Police are seeking three men who carjacked two vehicles in a single incident at an east Atlanta home, police said.

The men approached the victim Tuesday morning as he was leaving for work and took his gray BMW and white Dodge Charger, Atlanta police spokesman Donald Hannah said in an email.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the victim, Joe Ziegler, is an IRS agent, and that the BMW was his personal car and the Dodge was his government-issued vehicle.

The men who took the cars were also driving a Dodge Charger, according to police.

“We are actively pursuing the suspects,” Hannah said.

Both cars were recovered a short time later in the 1700 block of Richmond Circle in southeast Atlanta, Hannah said.
