A man was denied at his first court appearance for allegedly shooting another man during an attempted robbery.

According to Clayton County court records, T’Savonti Scott was denied bond at his court appearance Friday. He and Charles Smith were charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting death of Gebermdhin Alekto, 35, of Norcross.

The two men allegedly shot Alekto during an attempted robbery Oct. 23 outside Noble Oaks/Twelve Oaks apartments in Riverdale.

A release from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department initially said Alekto was a robbery accomplice. However, Riverdale Police said Scott and Smith attempted to rob Alekto as a friend was getting in the car.

The suspects shot Alekto as he tried to drive from the location. Police later found his overturned car in a wood line.

Smith remained in Clayton County Jail without bond Monday.

Scott’s next court appearance is Dec. 2.
