A retired DeKalb County police officer was convicted Thursday of molesting a girl to whom he was related, authorities said.

Kelless Twohearts Lory, 58, of Stone Mountain, was retired from the Chamblee Police Department at the time of the crimes, which took place between July 2011 and July 2012, Assistant District Attorney Megan Matteucci said in a press release.

The girl was 9 at the time the abuse began.

A jury convicted Lory of two counts of aggravated child molestation and two counts of child molestation after the girl he abused testified at trial.

Lory was immediately taken into custody Thursday and will be sentenced at a later date, Matteucci said. He faces two life sentences plus 40 years.
