Though he fled to California from Sandy Springs in 2014, the man who shot an Atlanta art student to death is finally going to prison for life plus five years, officials said.

Patricko Davis was dealing marijuana to fellow students of the Art Institute of Atlanta in July 2014 when a customer, 23-year-old Tekeenen Williams, refused to pay, Fulton County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Dontaye Carter said in a news release.

Williams, his girlfriend and a roommate drove to “the Hub” student housing near Barfield Road and Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs to meet Davis, Carter said.

But after the roommate paid for part of the pot, Williams said Davis owed them and refused to pay any more.

Davis pulled out a gun when Williams refused to give back the marijuana or pay for it and Williams tried to grab the gun. Williams was shot five times, Carter said.

It took three weeks for U. S. Marshals to track down Davis in California and bring him back to Fulton County.

Davis, 23, has been in jail since August 2014.
