Atlanta police say not only have scalpers been selling fake Falcons tickets to recent football games, they’ve also been giving counterfeit cash as change, Channel 2 Action News reports.

Some spent as much as $1,100 for tickets to games such as the NFC championship game in Atlantathe television station reported.

Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. Warren Pickard said he’s personally worked undercover to combat unauthorized buying and selling of tickets.

“For the last couple of games, it was overwhelming,” Pickard said. “We had people getting to the doors thinking they were getting in and being denied entry.”

The police department is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to arrests because they want to curb this kind of criminal activity before the Super Bowl comes to Atlanta in 2018.

“We’re trying to get ahead of it,” Pickard told Channel 2. “We have a (public service announcement) coming out in the next couple of months.”
