Landry Young was charged with obstruction of an officer, theft, and driving without a license.

What started as a search for a stolen car led to an arrest of a non-registered sex offender.

According to a police report, officers initially got a call about a car stolen out of Cobb County that was possibly being driven by Landry Young. The car was reported to be headed from Cobb along East Paces Ferry Road toward Lenox Square Mall.

An Atlanta police officer went inside the mall and located Young. When the officer told Young to stop, he ran from the police.

When Young stopped to look for another place to run throughout the mall, one of the responding officers used his Taser on him.

Police said Young ran from them again, fell down a set of escalators, got up and ran into the parking lot where he fought police and resisted arrested before he was handcuffed.

Police confiscated two diamond rings, diamond earrings and $952 in cash from Young.

A background check showed he had multiple outstanding warrants, including failure to register as a sex offender in DeKalb and Jackson counties. He also has outstanding warrants in Gwinnett County.

Young’s new charges include, obstruction of an officer, theft and driving without a license.
