A Florida mom stabbed her 2-year-old son to death at their South Miami-Dade home on Sunday morning, according to news reports.

Police told the Miami Herald that a suicidal mother murdered her son, wounded another man and then turned the weapon on herself.

Nathaly Ramos, 22, faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, before being booked into jail without bond.

Ramos lived in a government housing complex near Homestead with her mother and son, according to the Miami Herald.

Police wouldn’t confirm Ramos’ identity or release the details of the stabbing to the Herald. Department of Children and Families officials also did not comment, but said they were aware of the incident, the Herald reported.

Family and friends, who didn’t want to be identified, described the young woman as depressed and troubled. She reportedly didn’t have custody over her child and lived at a shelter, the Herald reported.

“Even before she had the baby she was always an emotional wreck,” a neighbor told the Herald.
