A 61-year-old woman and her 29-year-old son were found dead Sunday night inside a Gwinnett County apartment.

Police do not know how Nicola and James Sramek died or how long they had been dead.

“The manner and cause of death will be determined by the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner,” Gwinnett police Cpl. Deon Washington said. “The approximate length of time that they were inside the apartment deceased will also be determined by the Medical Examiner.”

Police went to the apartment in the 3300 block of Chelsea Park Lane about 10 p.m. Sunday to check on a resident.

“The complainant for the call was not able to make contact with their family members at that address and requested that the police respond,” Gwinnett police Cpl. Collin Flynn said. “When officers arrived, they located two deceased people inside the residence.”

Police said the deaths are being treated as suspicious and the homicide unit responded.

“It appears that this was an isolated incident involving both of the deceased,” Washington said.

He asked anyone who may have seen suspicious activities or heard unusual sounds over the past week to contact police at 770-513-5300.
