A 12-year-old girl who disappeared from her neighborhood was found at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, police said Thursday.

“She’s safe and sound,” Sgt. Warren Pickard told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday.

The girl, Zimia Hightower, told police Wednesday night she had runaway from home after a dispute with her mother and sister, according to a police report. .

She said she walked to the airport from her home in southeast Atlanta.

Police at the airport handed the girl over to her mother, Trina Rogers.
