A man who walked into a Cobb County mental health facility and fought with staff members before opening fire was captured Wednesday afternoon, police said.

No injuries were reported, but the man ran into a nearby neighborhood, where more than 150 authorities from multiple agencies were searching for him.

A man believed to be the gunman was captured about 3:15 p.m., Smyrna police spokesman Louis Defense said.

The Ridgeview Mental Health Facility is located at 3995 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna.

The man went to Ridgeview for a mental health evaluation before getting into an argument with staff members and firing shots toward a door, Defense said.

"He didn't want to remain at the facility," Defense said.

Ridge Road Southeast was closed from South Cobb Drive to Atlanta Road in Smyrna during the search.

Griffin Middle School and King Springs Elementary in Smyrna were on “Code Yellow” lockdowns for a short period of time due to “an overabundance of caution,” the Georgia State Patrol said. The lockdowns were lifted by 3:15 p.m.
