A worker at a Cobb County senior care facility was charged after a 91-year-old resident died from injuries suffered at the site, police said Friday.

Landon Terrel, 33, of Powder Springs, is facing felony murder and aggravated battery charges in connection with the death of Adam Bennett, Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a news release.

Officers went Tuesday to WellStar Kennestone Hospital after a man was taken there by ambulance from Sunrise at East Cobb, which is in the 1500 block of Johnson Ferry Road, according to police.

Hospital staff said Bennett “had injuries which were not consistent with what they were told,” according to the release.

“Detectives determined that the victim had been assaulted by a staff member at the care facility.”

Bennett died Friday from his injuries, Pierce said. The nature of the injuries was not released.

Terrel is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 770-499-3945.
