A 48-year-old man was attacked by two dogs Monday within a mile of where a 6-year-old boy was killed by dogs.

John Billups, 48, was walking along Chappell Road in southwest Atlanta when he was attacked by two dogs, believed to be pit-bull mixes, Channel 2 Action News reported. Billups was unconscious when police and paramedics arrived and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His arms and face were injured in attack, according to police.

Animal control officers picked up both dogs, but investigators had not located the dogs’ owners late Monday.

The latest attack happened six days after three dogs approached a group of children walking to their bus stop on Gideons Drive.

On Jan. 17, Logan Braatz, 6, and a schoolmate, Syari Sanders, 5, were both attacked, though other children were able to run from the dogs. Logan died from his injuries, and Syari was seriously injured.

Atlanta police said Cameron Tucker owned the dogs that attacked the children. Tucker was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. He remained early Tuesday in the Fulton County jail, where he was being held on $70,000 bond.
