Alpharetta police released on Sunday a sketch of the suspect in Tuesday’s attempted sexual assault at Wills Park.

A woman was attacked while walking with her 1-year-old child, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

When the suspect allegedly grabbed her and forced her against a wall, police said he tried to pepper spray her.

That’s when she fought back, thinking mostly of protecting her child, she said.

The 23-year-old mother was also pregnant.

“Much to her credit, she fought off the suspect,” said John Robison, the director of public safety for Alpharetta. “… I am very confident that we are going to apprehend the suspect in this case.”

In the 911 call obtained by Channel 2 Action News, the mother described what happened in the attack.

“I was walking on the trail and he took me and came up behind me with a knife and put it up to my neck and told me to walk with him over near the barn,” the woman told a dispatcher. “I fought back and I got away from him.”

Robison said the woman’s screaming, elbowing and kicking helped alert people in the area and scare off the attacker.

The suspect was described as a 35 to 40-year-old black man wearing a gray “mechanic-type” shirt with patches, gray pants and all black shoes.

Anyone with information about the crime or suspect is asked to contact the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, and can do so by submitting a crime tip through its Facebook page.
