A man and woman accused of defrauding 17 victims across the United States out of more than $100,000 were arrested Thursday night in Cobb County.

Ronzlex Harris, 40, of Stockbridge, and Kaya Edwards, 39, of Atlanta, are each facing 40-plus charges that include identity fraud, forgery, exploitation of the elderly and theft by receiving, Henry County officials said.

The two were found packing their car at a hotel near Windy Hill Road and I-75 in an attempt to leave town, Cobb sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Col. Robert Quigley said.

Harris and Edwards were wanted in Henry County after a two-year investigation showed they rented homes using stolen identities from victims across the country, Quigley said.

Police don’t know how the suspects obtained the personal information of the victims.

Harris and Edwards remain in the Cobb County jail, but they will be transferred to Henry County authorities.
