A jailer was fired after an investigation revealed he sexually assaulted three inmates while he worked for the Douglas County jail, officials said.

Carmel Biggers Jr., 39, of Hiram, had been employed at the jail since December. In the seven months since he was hired, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received information about the alleged assaults.

Deputies arrested Biggers on Monday.

No specific timeline was released about when the alleged assaults occurred.

“This type of conduct by any person associated with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is completely unacceptable and is an embarrassment to the department as well as the many exceptional men and women that proudly wear this badge,” Douglas County Sheriff Tim Pounds said in a news release. “This conduct will not be tolerated and will be dealt with appropriately.”

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution does not identify sexual assault victims.

Biggers remains in the Douglas County jail on a $75,000 bond, according to records.
