A woman in Daytona Beach allegedly broke a 3-year-old’s arm in three places after he wet his pants, police said.
Haillee Howell, 21, babysat the toddler and his two brothers at her home on Thursday when the incident happened, The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.
When the mother picked up her children later that day she said her son was crying about his arm hurting.
She took him to the hospital where doctors said the boy had three broken bones on his arm, bruising under his and and in both ears, and scratches on his legs and stomach, according to News-Journal.
Police said Howell she denied the claims of abuse and that “it happened somewhere else,” News-Journal reports. One of the brothers told police they saw Howell twisting the boy’s arm and hitting him with a spatula.
Officers arrested Howell on charged of child abuse and took her to the Volusia County Jail on Friday. She was released shortly after, according to county records.
