An inmate who escaped from a Georgia Department of Corrections facility in northeast Atlanta early Saturday has been captured.

East Point police arrested Dennis Carlyle, 23, about 8:25 p.m. Sunday, the Department of Corrections said. According to Channel 2 Action News, someone spotted him at a package store.

Carlyle is serving a seven-year sentence for robbery, online record show. His term is set to end in June 2019.

At the time of his escape, he was housed at the Atlanta Transitional Center in the 300 block of Ponce de Leon Avenue. The center prepares men with felony convictions who are nearing the ends of their terms to become responsible citizens, according to the Department of Corrections website.
