Gwinnett County police are looking for the driver of what is believed to be a Ford Explorer in connection with the death of a 46-year-old man.

Ramon Carrion was struck by an SUV near Danbury and Greenwood drives in Norcross between 11 p.m. Friday and midnight, police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said.

Police found his body hours later in a shopping center at 5935 South Norcross Tucker Road, which is about a quarter-mile from where police believe he was struck. Washington said Carrion was dragged to the shopping center, where he was “dislodged from the vehicle.”

The driver left the scene without contacting 911 or rendering aid, Washington said.

A surveillance camera caught video of the SUV leaving the area. Police believe it is a black 1998 to 2001 Ford Explorer with gold or gray trim around the tire wells and bumper. The front of the car has a tag that appears blue, police said.

Since March, Georgia-based Mana Nutrition has accumulated about 300,000 boxes of therapeutic food in its warehouse near Savannah, said Mark Moore, the organization’s co-founder and CEO. Each box includes 150 food packets, enough to feed a child for six weeks. Mana’s supply is awaiting shipment to countries in sub-Saharan Africa. “No one is being served by it sitting here,” Moore said. “It is just the sort of sadness of: Why would we not have it out there?” (Matt Odom for Mana Nutrition)
