A double shooting early Sunday morning in Locust Grove left one man dead and another critically hurt, police said.

The incident occurred during a house party on Easton Drive in the Grove Park Subdivision in Locust Grove around 1:20 a.m., Channel 2 Action News reported.

A party early Sunday morning turned deadly when police say two young men got into an altercation outside the house.

A witness told Channel 2 about 50 people were at the party Saturday night, but he was inside at the time, and the shooting took place out front.

He heard two pops.

A man later identified by the Henry County coroner as 19-year-old Rodnicus Gilbert of Griffin, fell to the ground on the sidewalk.

A 20-year-old man ended up in the backyard wounded by gun fire. His name has not been released.

Authorities on the scene were not looking for any suspects, Channel 2 reported.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation took over the case and interviewed many witnesses still at the house.
