Deceased Georgia teen found in Lake Lanier had disappeared once before

Estelle Kouassi had previously disappeared and was found in the state of Washington before she went missing against in February and then was found dead in Lake Lanier Sunday, according to public records obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Estelle Kouassi, 18 years old; last seen in the Chestatee area of North Hall in February,” says a Hall County Sheriff’s Office missing person report. “Previous incident regarding this person leaving the residence, she was found to be in Washington state.”

Kouassi attended Chestatee High School in Gainesville before she disappeared. Chestatee principal Suzanne Jarrard reported her disappearance to Hall sheriff’s deputies on March 3, public records show. Kouassi attended Apalachee High School in Winder until she transferred to Hall County in October.

Authorities — who identified Kouassi with dental records — have not determined the cause of her death, though they found no signs of trauma on her body.

“Investigators have spoken with family members and friends of Kouassi and foul play is not suspected with her death,” Hall Sheriff’s Deputy Nicole Bailes said in a prepared statement.
