One person has died after a triple shooting outside a Popeyes restaurant in DeKalb County, police said.

Three people were shot about 9:25 p.m. Monday in what appears to be a shootout in the parking lot of the restaurant, located in the 3000 block of Panola Road near Lithonia, Channel 2 Action News reported. The restaurant was open for business at the time.

Officers responding to the restaurant found two people with gunshot wounds, and a third later showed up at an area hospital. They also found semi-automatic guns on the ground, shattered glass and bullet holes in the side of a Ford pickup truck parked outside, Channel 2 reported.

At least three weapons were recovered from the scene.

The three were initially in critical condition following the shooting, but DeKalb police spokesman Sgt. J.D. Spencer confirmed one person died at a hospital late Monday night.

“A possible suspect has been detained,” Spencer told AJC.com on Tuesday.

Police are not yet releasing the names of those involved as an investigation is ongoing, he said.
