Investigators told Channel 2's Chris Jose, they've taken fingerprints, used facial recognition now, they need your help.

Authorities are asking for help identifying a body found in Lake Allatoona in September.

The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office released a sketch Monday of the man, who was shot in the head. His body was found with weights on his ankles, a small boat anchor tied around his waist and a backpack full of rocks and sand on his back, the release said.

The body was found Sept. 1 in the Bethany Bridge area of the lake, the release said. The Bartow County Fire Department recovered the body, which was described as a white man between 55 and 65 years old.

He was also said to be about 5-foot-10 and approximately 230 pounds, the release said. He was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and black swim flippers.

The GBI performed an autopsy Sept. 4. Fingerprint comparisons and facial recognition software were unable to identify the man, the release said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office at 770-387-5100 or tipline@bartow.org.
