More than 60 baggies of crack and powder cocaine were recovered by authorities after a man allegedly threw them out of a window during a traffic stop in Douglas County.

A routine traffic stop took a turn when deputies said a man threw a plastic bag filled with crack cocaine out of the window and sped off through Douglas County.

Winston McCray is accused of fleeing the Oct. 18 traffic stop in his Chevrolet Avalanche after failing to maintain his lane on I-20 East near County Line Road, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

After a brief chase, McCray eventually pulled over onto Lee Road and was taken into custody, the release said.

The plastic bag was recovered, and it contained 63 small baggies of powder cocaine and crack cocaine, the release said. The total amount of drugs recovered was 19.83 grams.

McCray faces charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, fleeing and attempting to elude an officer and failing to maintain his lane, according to jail records.

He remains in the Douglas County Jail without bond.
