Clarence Blackshear is accused of hitting Jacob Schirm on his motorcycle outside a Cobb County apartment complex.

An alleged drunken driver is in the Cobb County jail after police say he hit a motorcyclist outside an apartment complex.

Clarence Blackshear, 47, of Marietta, is accused of hitting Jacob Schirm, 20, of Alpharetta, outside the Silver Creek Apartments on Roswell Road about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Marietta police Officer Jared Rakestraw said.

Blackshear was leaving the apartment complex in his Ford Fusion when he failed to yield to Schirm, who was in the left lane on his Yamaha motorcycle.

“Schirm was unable to avoid Blackshear’s vehicle and his motorcycle collided with it,” Rakestraw said.

Schirm was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Blackshear is in the Cobb County Detention Center on a $35,000 bond. He faces DUI, serious injury by vehicle and failure to yield entering roadway charges.
