Police are looking for a driver who hit a construction worker and left him on the side of a Cobb County road.

The driver sped away from the scene Tuesday about 2:20 p.m. after going east through a construction zone at Windy Hill Road and attempting to turn south on Cobb Parkway, Marietta police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy said.

The worker, identified as Jorge Vazquez, was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and later released.

Police have not issued a description of the vehicle but are following several leads.

Vazquez was employed by Baldwin Paving Company, McPhilamy said.
