A woman was shot in the stomach Friday in what police said was an armed robbery attempt behind a metro Atlanta Walmart.
Henry County police responded to the incident about 9:20 a.m. at 5600 North Henry Boulevard, Capt. Joey Smith said.
The woman told police she gave three men a ride from one location to the Walmart parking lot and they tried to take her vehicle.
One of them shot her in the process, Smith said.
“The victim evidently grabbed one of the suspects’ handguns and fired at the suspects as they fled on foot from the victim’s vehicle,” Smith said.
It is unclear if the men were injured.
They are on the run, police said.
The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Her condition is unknown at this time, police said.
