A SWAT standoff involving a hostage at an apartment complex in Cobb County ended peacefully Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to the Cumberland Crossing apartments on Hidden Glen Drive, located off Franklin Drive and Cobb Parkway.

Police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a man, identified as 29-year-old Stephen Weatherford, held a woman hostage inside one of the units. Police also told the news station that the woman, who was not injured, knew Weatherford and that this was a domestic situation.

According to Channel 2, police said the man was arrested Dec. 22 at the same apartment complex on charges of aggravated assault and reckless conduct after allegedly having an argument with a woman inside her car. Weatherford was released on $10,000 bond, the news station reported.

It’s not clear if Monday’s incident involved the same woman.

Monday’s call came in around 9 a.m. and SWAT was on the scene an hour later. Police said it’s not clear who made the 911 call.
